President's Corner
What an amazing opportunity it is to serve with our local Rotarians and to be part of the miracle that is Rotary International. It is fun and rewarding to see what can be accomplished by a handful of dedicated individuals all working together to improve our community and the world.
We are vey pleased to give back to our generous community in Star Valley. Some of our local projects include:
- Literacy Project – we donate a dictionary to every 3rd grade student in Star Valley and Cokeville and regularly donate children’s books to our local branch libraries
- Student of the Month – each month from October to April we honor two outstanding seniors from Star Valley High School. These students are chosen by the administration at the high school and receive a $50 incentive from Lower Valley Energy. They are also eligible for our annual Rotary High School Scholarship.
- High School Scholarships – our club provides scholarships to two graduating seniors each year, generally selected from our Students of the Month
- Abilities Prom – each year our club sponsors a Prom for the clients of Lincoln Self Reliance (LSR) which provides essential services to the developmentally challenged individuals of our community
- Highway Cleanup – our club regularly cleans a stretch of US Highway 89 in The Narrows area of Star Valley
- Food Drive – this year our club initiated a valley-wide food drive to help stock the shelves of our food banks in each community
We invite you to join us for fun, fellowship, and an opportunity to practice “Service Above Self”. Please contact us at Info@RotaryofStarValley.org or join us for lunch at our next meeting.
